Meta Pixel setup checklist: track your leads before you spend a rupee

Meta Ads
Meta Pixel setup checklist

Before you launch a single campaign, make sure Meta can see what happens on your website. Without tracking, you will not know which ad produced a lead, and Meta cannot learn who to show your ads to.

Your pre-launch checklist

  1. Create your Pixel in Meta Events Manager and connect it to your ad account.
  2. Install it on every page of your website or use your website platform's built-in Meta integration.
  3. Pick one clear goal event, for example "Lead" on the thank-you page after a form is submitted.
  4. Test it. Use Meta's Pixel Helper browser extension and submit a real test lead. Check that the event appears.
  5. Verify your domain in Business Settings so you can use all event options.
  6. Name things clearly. Campaign, ad set and ad names should say what they are so your reports make sense in a month.
Tip: track the lead on a thank-you page, not on the button click. Button clicks include people who never finish the form.

Common mistakes

  • Pixel installed only on the home page
  • Two Pixels fighting each other on the same site
  • No test lead before launch
  • Counting every page view as a "result"

Next step

Once tracking works, you can launch with confidence and judge your ads by real leads, not likes. If you want a second pair of eyes on your setup, our free audit covers exactly this.
