AEO checklist: 10 things to fix this week
More people now ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI who to hire or what to buy. Nobody can guarantee a mention, but you can make it easier for AI tools to find clear, correct information about your business. Here are ten fixes for this week.
The checklist
- Write one clear sentence about what you do. "We are a [what] for [who] in [where]". Use it on your home page, profiles and listings.
- Give each service its own page. One service, one page, with plain headings.
- Answer real questions on the page. Put the question as a heading and the answer in the first lines below it.
- Add an FAQ. Use the questions customers really ask, such as cost, time and who it is for.
- Keep your business details identical everywhere. Name, city, email, phone and links should match on your site, Google Business Profile, LinkedIn and directories.
- Complete your Google Business Profile. Categories, services, photos and a short description.
- Collect real reviews. Ask happy customers to review you on Google. Never write fake ones.
- Add structured data. Organization, Service and FAQ markup help machines read your pages. Make sure it matches what is visible on the page.
- Do not block search crawlers. Check your robots.txt, and make sure your pages load without logins or pop-ups blocking the text.
- Test it. Ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity the questions your customers ask. Write down what each says about you and your competitors, and repeat monthly.
Honest limit: answers change from day to day and differ by tool. Nobody can promise a ranking or a mention. The goal is clear, correct and consistent information, so you are an easy business to recommend.
What not to do
- Do not stuff pages with keywords.
- Do not publish fake reviews or invented awards.
- Do not trust anyone who guarantees you will appear in AI answers.
